ART MALADNIAK
Open Call
Art Maladniak — a space for free expression, experimentation, and developing new ideas
The Mochnarte Foundation invites Belarusian artists, curators, and creative practitioners aged 18–35 to apply for the Art Maladniak residency program in the village of Mochnate, Podlaskie Voivodeship, Poland.
Art Maladniak offers an opportunity to focus on your artistic or curatorial practice, research, experimentation, and the development of new ideas.
The residency lasts from one to two weeks. It is also possible to split the residency into two separate stays over the course of a year if this better suits the participant’s needs and the nature of their work.
We do not require participants to complete a separate, finished project during the residency. You can work on a new project, continue an existing one, conduct research, experiment, or use this time to explore and develop new ideas.
For us, the process is just as important as the outcome. We value experimentation, the development of individual practices, and the opportunity to work freely and independently.
What Mochnarte offers
• Accommodation and meals;
• Space and conditions for creative work;
• Travel cost reimbursement;
• Materials necessary for your work, subject to prior agreement;
• Organizational support throughout the residency.
Our principles
Mochnarte aims to create a safe space for free artistic expression, independent work, and experimentation without censorship.
The Foundation is committed to equality, non-discrimination, and inclusivity. We welcome people with diverse identities and experiences, including members of minority groups, the LGBTQ+ community, and people with disabilities.
If you require additional support or accessibility accommodations to participate in the residency, please let us know. We will do our best to find a suitable solution.
Who can apply?
We welcome Belarusian artists, curators, and creative practitioners aged 18–35 who are interested in developing their own practice, conducting research, and experimenting.
We are open to a wide range of artistic, curatorial, and other creative practices.
How to apply
The program offers only 12 places. The number of participants is limited.
We will announce the closure of applications on our social media pages.
To apply, please send the following to mochnarte@gmail.com:
- CV — a brief overview of your background and professional experience.
- Portfolio or another presentation of your creative work.
- A description of what you would like to work on or explore during the residency.
- Preferred dates and the desired duration of your stay.
- Please indicate your current country of residence.
After the residency
After completing the residency, participants are required to submit a report summarizing their stay and activities.
We expect participants to be open to experimentation, work independently, and take responsibility for the shared space.
